Some photoshoots start with a location or a wardrobe piece — but this one began with a feeling. I wanted to create a session that blended classic fairytale charm with the creativity and personality you’d expect in a senior portrait. Not a full Cinderella remake, but something softer… a little lived-in, a little vintage, and full of imagination.
What followed was one of my favorite behind-the-scenes setups yet.
We built the scene from everyday pieces: an old sewing table with an old iron, draped fabric, a weathered stool, a vintage radio, and even a pumpkin tucked into the corner. Individually, they’re simple objects. But together, they created a warm, storybook atmosphere — the kind of place where a quiet moment can feel like the start of a fairytale.
The lighting was a mix of natural softness with just a touch of flash to bring out the warm tones in the wood and wardrobe. It kept everything gentle but still gave the scene that little “pop” I love.
Our model slipped into the role effortlessly, shifting between thoughtful, dreamy poses and moments that felt like she was caught mid-story. That’s the power of a concept — it lets the personality come forward in a way standard portraits don’t always capture.
This session is a reminder that senior portraits don’t have to fit a mold. They can be themed, nostalgic, creative, or quietly magical. Sometimes all it takes is a spark of imagination and a space where a story can unfold.
